The Commonwealth of Massachusetts - American Asian and Pacific Islanders Commission
The Massachusetts Asian American and Pacific Islanders Commission (AAPIC) serves as a permanent body committed to advocating for both Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders across the state. Through its work, the Commission aims to improve the quality of life for all Massachusetts residents, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
As a UX designer for this project, I worked closely with the Commissioner's office to understand their requirements and business goals. Through an iterative process, I designed a structured, user-centric information architecture and optimized user flows for their website.
This case study outlines the design process and results, highlighting solutions aimed at developing a website that is both accessible and user-friendly.

The AAPIC website serves as the primary online platform dedicated to celebrating and highlighting to the forefront the significant contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to Massachusetts' social, cultural, economic, and political spheres. Currently, the website has a footprint of 2k+ user every month with peaks of 10k+ users during the month of April/May.
The current website lacks user-friendliness for both information seekers and content managers. It appears outdated and inflexible, struggling to accommodate new information effectively. The goal is to recreate this website with a clear and organized information structure.

“We don’t think it’s laid out well in terms of accessibility and information for the public. There’s a lot of random, outdated content that doesn’t make sense. Not enough room for resources about what we are actively doing.”
